The consumer unit or fuse box as it’s often called is responsible for controlling the electrical supply within your home. This more often than not will be located where the electrical supply comes into your house.

The main purpose of the consumer unit is to protect you and your home from any potential electrical hazards that could develop such as circuits becoming overloaded, over current protection, protection against electric shock and fires to name but a few of the main points.
